In this Episode: Krish, Simon, Zoe, Jaime, Yan, Caiwei, Ting, Aaron, Sasha, Tianyu, Christina, and Makob Jangles.
Tianyu: Happy new year! By popular demand, we’ve recorded a podcast.
Krish: We recorded a lo-fi zoom call with 12 people across four time zones.
Tianyu: Yes. Things, understandably, were a bit chaotic.
Krish: So we’ve structured this like a “radio hour”—some lukewarm takes interspersed with hot new music from our favourite bands in the Beijing scene. It’s not professional or even fully coherent, but we had a lot of fun. We hope you find it interesting!
Tianyu: We’re probably never going to do this again lol. So we’re releasing this just for our paid subscribers as a premium perk, and as a small way to say thanks for all the support!
SHOW NOTES:
Yan’s piece on idol fandom and Big Yoghurt in China.
The 一猫人 (Yimaoren) sticker that went viral:
Alibaba’s Ant Forest minigame. It’s won awards.

The Sanhe Youth. Their motto: “work for a day, party for three.”
The podcast that Jaime recommends is an episode of 噪音开始了.
One of the anti-work Douban groups Zoe mentions.
